Cloud Account Management (CAM) - Setup Root Email AliasPurpose: Creating and managing unique email addresses for numerous AWS accounts can be a significant challenge for AWS administrators. A single email address managed within your organization's Microsoft Active Directory (AD) can streamline this process. Here's how it works: When a Cloud Account Manager (CAM) creates a new account, a unique request ID is appended to a pre-defined root email address. This creates a unique email address for each account, while still delivering notifications to your centralized mailbox. This eliminates the need to manage thousands of individual email addresses. Benefits: Reduced administrative burden: You no longer need to create and maintain individual email addresses for each AWS account.Centralized notifications: All notifications from your AWS accounts are delivered to a single mailbox, simplifying monitoring and management.Improved collaboration: By configuring the email address as shared access, the DevOps team can easily view account notifications and collaborate on tasks. This approach offers a more efficient and manageable solution for handling AWS account notifications within your organization. Required Role: Email / AD Administrator Procedure: In collaboration with the Email Administrator, please create an email address like aws-ccoe@mycompany.com. Ensure this address can both send and receive emails. Verification Steps: Send a test email: Send an email from your email to aws-ccoe+test@mycompany.com.Verify receipt: Confirm that the test email is successfully received in the aws-ccoe+test@mycompany.com mailbox. What happens when a new subscription account is created? During the account provisioning process, the Cloud Account Manager (CAM) dynamically appends a request ID (e.g., CAMSAREQ0000002) to a predefined root email address (aws-ccoe@mycompany.com). This creates a unique email address for each account in a structured format (aws-ccoe+CAMSAREQ0000002@mycompany.com).Following the account provisioning, AWS sends emails to addresses in this format, allowing them to be received in the central email account aws-ccoe@mycompany.com. Sharing the Address: Once confirmed, please share the aws-ccoe@mycompany.com email address with the Provisioner or ServiceNow admin for configuration purposes. Setting up Root credentials for newly created AWS Account You receive an email with confirmation of account creation in the mail box aws-ccoe@mycompany.com.You need to set the root credentials manually configured based on your company's security standards.
